Vessel

Crafted by British designer Thomas Heatherwick, the structure known as "Vessel" is currently under construction in Monfalcone, Italy. It is set to be assembled at its designated site in Manhattan next year, with an anticipated opening in 2018.

Heatherwick drew inspiration for the design from Indian stepwells, which are ponds accessed by descending a series of steps, and from a Busby Berkeley musical, known for its elaborate choreography involving numerous steps. By elevating visitors significantly above ground level, Heatherwick envisions the structure providing a unique perspective, allowing people to view the city and the world in a novel way.
