The Museum of the American Indian in New York, now known as the National Museum of the American Indian, is part of the Smithsonian Institution and is located in the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House. One fun fact is that the museum's collection originally began with the private collection of George Gustav Heye, who started collecting Native American artifacts in 1903. By the time of his death in 1957, Heye had amassed over a million objects, making it one of the most comprehensive collections of Native American artifacts in the world.
